MOCCASIN BEND COOPERATIVE MANAGEMENT PLAN (Field Trip - 1/12/98 to 1/16/98) Purpose of This Field Trip The purpose of this field trip is to orient the planning team to Moccasin Bend and its unique resources. It will provide an opportunity to meet with the principal stakeholders at the onset of this planning effort. it is hoped that these meetings will develop positive working relationships, and give stakeholders an opportunity to review the planning process, ask questions, and address comments and concerns. By the end of this field trip, the planning team should have sufficient direction to move forward with beginning preparation of a Cooperative Management Plan for Moccasin Bend. Purpose of the Cooperative Management Plan The purpose of this planning project is to provide the U.S Congress with a professional analysis of whether the nationally significant resources of Moccasin Bend are suitable and feasible for addition to the National Park System, and more importantly, to focus on viable management alternatives for the protection and public use of the site. This planning effort will consider the following factors:
